Vladimir Tarasenko scored with 3.3 seconds left in the third period to lift the Ottawa Senators past the San Jose Sharks 5-4 on Saturday.

With the Senators applying pressure, Tarasenko shook off a check from Justin Bailey, grabbed a rebound after a save from goalie Mackenzie Blackwood on a shot from Artem Zub, and fired it into the empty net for the game-winning goal.

An official review by the NHL upheld the call, as the Sharks fell to 1-2-0 on this five-game road trip and 1-13-0 since mid-December.

Mario Ferraro had three assists, including one on Filip Zadina’s game-tying goal with 3:04 left that tied the game 4-4.

The Sharks briefly held a second period before they allowed consecutive goals to Brady Tkachuk and Drake Batherson.

The Sharks led 3-2 at the 6:20 mark of the second period after Kevin Labanc scored his second goal of the season off an assist from Ferraro. But Tkachuk responded with a goal just 51 seconds later, and Batherson gave the Senators the lead for good with 7:01 left in the second period.

Anthony Duclair and Marc-Edouard Vlasic also scored for the Sharks, who will be staying in Ottawa overnight after a powerful storm was set to hit Western New York, forcing the closure of the area’s biggest airport.

Mackenzie Blackwood finished with 36 saves as the Sharks were badly outshot 41-19. The Sharks had just four shots on net in the second period, with two, the goals by Duclair and Labanc getting past Sabres goalie Joonas Korpisalo.
